Arise, O Lord ; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble – Psalms 10:12 KJV
The text above, which is our anchor text, shows exactly what we are expecting God to do for us. We are asking God to arise and we want him to lift up his hands. We should also note that there a number of things that will happen when God’s hands are lifted up.
We will look at a very interesting case where God’s hands were lifted, see what happened and also believe that God will do the same for us as his children. we should bear in mind that whatever God has done before, he can do repeatedly. Even the things he has never done before, he can still do them for our sake.
We saw in the book of Exodus chapter 3 from verse 1 -10 how God had gotten the attention of Moses and also instructed him to take up the assignment of delivering the children of Israel. The task was a daunting one and Moses knew that but God reassured him that he had all the backing he needed.
Moses and the children of Israel ran into several brick walls. One of them was seeing the red sea ahead of them while the Egyptian host was coming behind them. They were greatly afraid. They thought they had escaped from Egypt and were camping by a sea. While they were camping by the sea, Egyptians came against them.
The first thing Israelites could think about doing was to complain to Moses. The reminded him how they had told him to leave them in Egypt. Moses had to calm them down and asked them to be still and see what God would do for them. You will read this story in Exodus chapter 14.
After Moses had told the people to be calm, he went to God. God said, ‘why are you crying out to me?’ After this, Moses got an instruction. Verse 16 of Exodus 14 says, ‘But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.’
Moses lifted his rod and his hands and the sea parted. We know that ordinarily, the hands of Moses will never be able to do that. It was the hands of God that did it. God just wanted to use the hands of Moses to do part the sea. So when Moses lifted his hands, the sea parted and the children of Israel walked on dry ground. Just when God was delivering his children, the Egyptians wanted to halt the deliverance process. The Egyptians wanted to walk on dry ground just as the Israelites did in order to kill them.
While the hands of God were still lifted through the hands of Moses, God’s children were able to walking through an impossible situation. God created a way where there was no way. At the same time, God drowned the opposition that wanted to follow his children into the new way he had opened.
From this experience of the Israelites, you can simply say that when God’s hands are lifted, ways will be created where there used to be no ways. After God has opened up ways for you, he will also protect you all through the paths he has created for you. Have faith in the fact that God will arise for you and lift up his hands. When God does that, impossible situations will be taken care of and you will escape all the obvious troubles you have be scared of. God will not forsake you. He will arise for you in Jesus name.
