‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. – Exodus 19:4
One of the things God is trying to call our attention to in the text above is the terrible things that he did to the Egyptians which he can also do to anyone who will not let you go.
Many children of God are afraid for one reason or the other. It could be that you have battles to fight or you are afraid of what might happen to you because of the family you came from. Others just know that they are supposed to have recorded more progress but everything is on standstill. After a while, you have come to admit that there are people who are not letting you go forward.
I am giving you the assurance of the Lord which is evident in Exodus 19:4. It is not you who should be afraid. It is the enemies who are against you that should be afraid. Anyone who is speaking against you or who has vowed never to let you go forward in life is the one who should be afraid.
Why should they be afraid? God said, ‘you have seen what I did to the Egyptians!’ What were the things that God did to the Egyptians? First He sent a warning to their King in Exodus 9:14 saying, ‘for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth.’
When the Egyptians did not listen, the bible says in Exodus 9, ‘then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt-on man, on beast, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.’ In Exodus 10:12, we saw what God said again to Moses. It says, ‘then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land-all that the hail has left.”
You probably know the whole of the story of how God sent different things to fight the Egyptians just as they kept refusing Israel her liberty. To cap it all, the host that went after Israel perished in the sea while Israel crossed over in the same sea.
Again I assure you, because of the word of the Lord in Exodus 19:4, it is your enemies that should be afraid and not you. When God assures you that he has borne you on Eagles’ wings, you can go to sleep. You can be so sure that no harm will come against you. You will not only be in a place of safety, you will achieve effortlessly.
Finally, God does not just remind people of what he has done before. When God reminds you of the good things he has done for you, it could be that you have not given him enough thanks for that thing. When He reminds you of the terrible things he has done to some enemies in the past, it is because he is willing to do more to anyone who wants to get in your way. So don’t be afraid because you are on Eagle’s wings. It is your enemy who should be afraid, and I mean very afraid.
