‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. – Exodus 19:4
It is such a great thing to be borne on eagles’ wings especially as described by God in the verse above. God himself was speaking to Moses and reminded him of what he had done for the children of Israel.
It is necessary to understand a bit of how the eagles operate so that we will know what it is to be borne on Eagles’ wings. Eagles will always teach their young ones how to soar and often take them to a great height to do that. It is recorded in some researches and documentaries that the eagles will take their young ones to a very tall height, drop them from that height and expect them to start flying.
The mother eagle never leaves the sight of that baby eagle. It watches as the young eagle struggles to gain balance of keep itself in the air. Once the mother eagle notices that the eaglet is losing height or falling fast, it will come in a very swift manner and rescue the eaglet. From there, the eaglet is taken to a great height again and the expedition continues until the eaglet is able to soar.
During that expedition, the eaglet has the full protection that the eagle can offer. Following that illustration, lets now get back to what God was trying to tell the children of Israel. To be borne on eagles wings’ connotes the following:
Motherly affection from God- To be borne on eagles wings shows the affection between mother eagle and eaglet so God is reminding us of our relationship.
Strong deliverance – Eagles are known to get their eaglets out of trouble just like God delivered Israel from Egypt. He also said, ‘you have seen what I did to the Egyptians.’
Divine protection – The eaglets can be covered up within the wings of the eagle. God in Psalm 91 tells us, ‘He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.’
Divine Speed – Obviously the eaglet will not be able to go as fast as the eagle to when we are borne on eagle’s wings, it tells us of the divine speed that God has given us or can give us in every area of our lives.
Guidance – To be borne on eagle’s wings also represents guidance for two reasons. One, the eyes of the eagles are very sharp and can see far ahead. So it can see dangers ahead and know the route to take to avoid such dangers. The second thing is that the one who is carrying another is the one who knows the way and shows the way.
So when God carries us in His mighty arms, he shows us the way.
I pray for you that God will continue to show you his motherly affection in Jesus name. You will not lose his divine protection and you will gain God-speed in every necessary area of your life in Jesus name.
